Start Architecture were thrilled to assist Avis Budget UK with designs for their new build Avis Budget Van Hub Centre, including Rental Reception, Back Office, Manager’s Office, small meeting room and staff welfare facilities. The new facility also proposed a new stand alone, steel framed Wet/Dry vehicle preparation building and associated external works.

The van rental centre building design was based on prefabricated, offsite manufactured, structural insulated panels (SIPs). The benefits were to deliver a cost effective, modular building with high energy efficiency and an accelerated project delivery programme, without compromising on quality.

The project involved the demolition of a vacant two-storey public house, later identified as an unregistered, non-designated heritage asset of 'local' significance. This required consultation with the local authority conservation officer and the submission of a heritage statement.
